Artist’s Archive with Custom Animation

Bringing Together Research and Practice

Elle Reynolds is a practice-based academic researcher and lecturer at Goldsmiths, University of London, exploring autonomous art schools and alternative models of art education. Having recently completed her PhD, she wanted to consolidate multiple existing websites into a single, well-structured platform that could showcase her work and link to her PhD research site.

A Homepage to Reflect Her Artistic Practice

Elle wanted a homepage that was not just a navigation tool but an extension of her artistic practice. Inspired by her cyanotype projects and research themes, I developed a custom JavaScript animation featuring the site’s three main categories—PiecesWritings, and Imprints—bouncing infinitely across the screen. The result is a homepage that offers a visually distinctive entry point to her work.

Building for Flexibility and Longevity

To ensure Elle could update and maintain the site with ease, I built it using WordPress’s Full Site Editor, giving her complete control over content management. I also provided training, empowering her to make updates independently.

The final website is an intuitive, flexible, and visually striking platform that unifies Elle’s diverse practice. It functions as both a structured archive and a creative expression of her research, ensuring longevity and ease of use.
